European elections

Here are the results of the 2014 European Parliament election held in the United Kingdom last week:
 
The popular vote was won by the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) - the first time a political party other than the Labour Party and Conservative Party has polled first in a national election since the December 1910 general election.


The Conservatives, the party currently in governing coalition with the Liberal Democrats, were pushed into third place for the first time in a European Parliament election.

UKIP won 24 seats
Labour Party : 20 seats
Conservative Party : 19 seats
Green Party : 3 seats
Liberal Democrats : 1 seat
