European elections

Here are the results of the 2014 European Parliament election held in the United Kingdom last week:
 
The popular vote was won by the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) - the first time a political party other than the Labour Party and Conservative Party has polled first in a national election since the December 1910 general election.


The Conservatives, the party currently in governing coalition with the Liberal Democrats, were pushed into third place for the first time in a European Parliament election.

UKIP won 24 seats
Labour Party : 20 seats
Conservative Party : 19 seats
Green Party : 3 seats
Liberal Democrats : 1 seat

May 9th : Europe Day

Florian and Oscar told us about Europe Day.

Europe Day commemorates 9 May 1950, when the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organised Europe, to help maintain peaceful relations between European countries.

Each year's Europe Day has a different theme. This year the poster wanted to remind EU citizens of the importance of the coming elections and of the fact that they could choose who represents them in the European Parliament, the directly-elected institution that defends their interests in the EU decision-making process.

Red Nose Day!

Nina and Julie told us about Red Nose Day, a sort of British "telethon" organised every other year by Comic Relief.
On that day, people (anonymous or famous), schools... do something funny to raise funds which will help to change people's lives across the  UK and Africa.

Rendez-vous au collège le mardi 28 janvier à 08h15.
Départ du car : 8h30
Visite de La Provence de 9h30 à 11h30.
Retour au collège vers 12h30; notre cours de 13h à 14h est banalisé afin de pouvoir déjeuner.

Recommandations : - laisser les sacs dans les casiers.
                                     - prendre le carnet de correspondance et de quoi écrire.
                                     - tenue correcte exigée.
                                     - comportement irréprochable attendu dans le car et sur place.
